President -Leonnie McCluskey:
Leonnie has been involved with netball in Gippsland for over 35 years, as a player, umpire, coach and committee member. Leonnie has numerous accolades on her resume probably too many to mention! Leonnie has coached at Association, State and National level with many championships and premierships under her belt along the way. Recently she worked as a "talent scout" for the Gippsland Sports Academy, but it doesn't end there. She holds a current Level 2 Development coaching qualification as well as a B badge in umpiring and has recently completed her qualification to become a member of the Testing Panel for Umpires. If that wasn't enough Leonnie is a also a member of the Casey Demons Netball Board of Management. In case you didn't know Leonnie is very passionate about netball !!!, she encourages and supports all participants both on and off the court. Her aim is to improve the skills and abilities of all the Fusion players so they can be the best they can be. How lucky are we to have this magnificent netball brain as the main driver of the Southern Fusion Committee.
Vice President & GLO(Grievance Liaison Officer)- Sommer Phillips
Sommer has been around the netball scene since she was born and has netball running through her veins. Sommer started her netball journey locally at Wonthaggi Association, she played for the Wonthaggi Rovers and Wonthaggi Power. She has played representative netball at association level and for Gippsland. Sommer has continued her presence in the local netball scene as an umpire, umpiring around the region for many years. With numerous premierships to her name as both a player and coach Sommer brings a wealth of knowledge to the Southern Fusion Committee.
Secretary - Belinda Whiteside
Belinda is originally from Western Australia, she grew up in the Great Southern wheatbelt town of Newdegate. An avid netballer herself, playing juniors right through to the senior ranks both in W.A and Victoria. While Belinda has achieved many accolades in her own netball pathway, her real passion is the growth and development of junior athletes. Belinda has coached juniors for many years, and enjoys seeing our athletes succeed at a higher level, she is a committed and valued member of our Southern Fusion Committee.
Treasurer - Ben Yates
Ben grew up in South Gippsland, playing for MDU from juniors right through to senior level. Ben is now a tragic netball father/Uber driver to his daughter Mia, who has represented Southern Fusion for the past three seasons. Ben has volunteered his time at the LDNA assisting with their tournament team, he is always willing to assist where he can and we are glad that he put his hand up to help us. Ben is a proud and valued member of the Southern Fusion Committee.
